Wall runs on TON (The Open Network), not on Ethereum, Solana, or Polygon. This page explains why — four architectural reasons, with concrete trade-offs named. The goal isn't to claim TON is the best blockchain in the abstract; it's to show why TON is the right blockchain for Wall's specific audience and use case. The single biggest determinant of whether Wall's on-chain features get used is friction in the wallet-onboarding step. A user already in Telegram who wants to send a 1-TON tip must: open a wallet, fund it (if empty), approve the transaction. If the wallet is already on their phone, that's 3 taps and 10 seconds. If they need to install a wallet first, it's 5 minutes and a 30% drop-off rate. TON-on-Telegram has the lowest known friction. Tonkeeper opens directly from a TON Connect prompt; MyTonWallet has a Telegram bot that handles the approval flow inside Telegram itself. Wall's on-chain features are micropayments. A typical TON tip is 0.5-5 TON. A Chain Post seal is 1+ TON. The gas cost has to be a small fraction of the transferred amount, otherwise the user-facing math breaks. On-chain функции Wall — микроплатежи. Типичные TON-чаевые — 0.5-5 TON. For Chain Posts specifically, TON's low gas means we can offer 1-TON sealing as a meaningful primitive. On Ethereum L1 with the same architecture, we'd need to charge 5-10 USD per Chain Post just to break even on gas — pricing that out of casual use. The cultural fit between platform-chain pair matters: Farcaster on Optimism feels native because Farcaster's audience is EVM-builder-shaped; Wall on TON feels native because Wall's audience is Telegram-shaped. Chain Posts need a public, low-cost, simple anchor for SHA-256 hashes. TON's standard wallet-to-wallet transfer with a payload field gives us exactly this — no smart contract, no audit surface, no proprietary primitive. The transaction record on tonviewer.com / tonscan.org is the on-chain anchor; the payload is the hash. Anyone can verify by independently hashing the post body and comparing. Chain Posts нужен публичный, дешёвый, простой якорь для SHA-256 хешей. Same on Ethereum L1 would require either (a) a custom contract that emits an event with the hash — adds smart-contract audit surface and gas overhead, or (b) using calldata in a self-transfer — wasteful gas-wise compared to TON's payload field. The minimalism of TON's transfer-with-payload is actually a feature for this use case. The Chain Post mechanism is "send a TON transfer with the hash in the payload, then read it back via tonapi.io." Boring, intentional, low-attack-surface. TON has lower DeFi ecosystem maturity than Ethereum L2s. If Wall later wants to plug into a lending protocol or a stablecoin pool for some user-facing feature, TON's options are narrower. The infrastructure is sufficient for Wall's use case but lighter than Ethereum's. Mitigation: multi-chain expansion is on the 2027 long-term roadmap, providing eventual diversification.
